You
aren't going to let a child scare you away!
Some of us were intimidated when making our first dresses
for someone else's children. We tended to be critical of our
own sewing projects, so we expected that others would be,
too.
But these are children who have mostly never had a dress.
They won't be checking your seams, much less your buttonholes.
And they probably won't show them to your sewing teacher.
Their own teachers will be too busy observing the girls' reaction
to worry about the zipper application. Just sew as if you're
making it for someone you love who badly needs a dress.
One aspect that the girls and their mothers seem to absorb
from each dress is the affection that has gone into it. Only
someone who really cares would put so much time and effort
into making one dress.

children truly had a sense that the clothing was made specifically
